Continuing in the concluding season of our 2 Kings series Power Without Glory.
Our sermon ‘Prayer’s Promise and Pride’s Price’ reveals the way in which faith seeks the blessings of God for the glory of God, and what happens when our focus rests on our blessings, rather than the one who blesses us.

For those unable to join us at MGPC, the service will be live-streamed.
The video is available at our website and youtube channel.

The NRL enters the twilight time of season called State of Origin. All the interest is focussed on the interstate games, with the competition somewhat compromised by players not available for their teams on the weekends before the Origin games and various rounds truncated by a series of what are effectively byes. I remain unconvinced there will be any movement between those teams inside and outside the top eight as it is currently constituted.
The AFL enters its bye structure this weekend as well. It’s a little more orderly simply because all fit players are available for all games.

(Draws count as correct)
NRL (last round 6/8; season tally 64/96)
North Queensland
Penrith
New Zealand
Easts

AFL (last round 5/9; season tally 67/99)
Geelong
Adelaide
Gold Coast
Melbourne
Hawthorn
Brisbane

Having used the escalators at Melbourne’s Parliament Station on occasion I was curious to look on this list and see where it ranked alongside others around the world.
Not in the top 70 as it turns out (number 1-3 being three 453 feet long units in St. Petersburg).
It does end up as last on the supplementary list at 98 feet in length.

Check out the list in a post at site called Panethos.
