The NRL enters the twilight time of season called State of Origin. All the interest is focussed on the interstate games, with the competition somewhat compromised by players not available for their teams on the weekends before the Origin games and various rounds truncated by a series of what are effectively byes. I remain unconvinced there will be any movement between those teams inside and outside the top eight as it is currently constituted.
The AFL enters its bye structure this weekend as well. It’s a little more orderly simply because all fit players are available for all games.
