Ten Habits To Develop In Order To Have Healthy Conflict (via Ron Edmondson)

Conflict is part of life and all relationships.
Good processes in conflict will facilitate constructive resolutions that build trust and partnership.
Leaders particularly need to model good processes as they work through issues of conflict with others and not rely on an authority position to get their way.

Leaders especially should ask themselves when they willingly accepted and supported another point of view or a compromise position.
If you’re always getting your way, have you been managing conflict as well as you should?

Ron Edmondson offers these ten points:

  1. Understand the battle.
  2. Find the right time and place When emotions are high is not good timing for dealing with conflict.
  3. Examine yourself first.
  4. Consider the other side of the conflict.
  5. Do not overreact to the issue or overload on emotion.
  6. Do not dance around or sugarcoat the issue or disguise it in false kindness.
  7. Do not allow the small disagreements to become big disagreements.
  8. Be firm, but gentle.
  9. Work towards a solution.
  10. Grant forgiveness easily.

Ultimate Archery Skill Demonstration

Way back when in High School it was so disappointing to discover that archery didn’t work like in the movies or comic books.
But the guy in this video has totally restored my faith.
Sometimes the video seems like a spoof, but always takes itself very seriously.

Be The Church Instead Of Trying To Fix The Church (via Carlos Whittaker)

Thoughts from Carlos Whittaker:

The local church isn’t hinging on how you decorate it.
The local church isn’t going to die if you don’t fix it.
The local church isn’t in need of your systems.
The local church isn’t going to fall apart without the next generation fixing the last generation’s version.
The local church isn’t some experiment.
The local church is the bride of Christ and will survive and thrive regardless of our churching skill level.
So this week.
Relax with the plans…Take a deep breath…And BE the church instead of trying to FIX the church. It’s better that way…
