Jesus heralds a new kingdom, not based on an ideology that invites extremism, but based on himself.
Jesus heralds a spiritual experience, not based on withdrawal from creation, but based on a relationship that calls us to engage with creation in a way that reflects God’s image.

[Jesus’] appearance in our midst has made it undeniably clear that changing the human heart and changing human society are not separate tasks, but as interconnected as the two beams of the cross.
Jesus was a revolutionary, who did not become an extremist, since he did not offer an ideology, but Him-self. He was also a mystic, who did not use his intimate relationship with God to avoid the social evils of his time, but shocked his milieu to the point of being executed as a rebel.

The NRL has a slightly odd situation where the top two teams don’t seem entirely interested in who actually finishes the home and away season in first place. Particularly for Penrith, where anything less than another premiership is deemed as underachieving. Brisbane, too, have their eyes set on the main prize, If they win tonight they will have gone to nineteen wins, from thirteen wins last year and seven wins the year before that. But they need to go deep into the finals, their club culture is predicated on winning.

The AFL is having their pre-finals weekend off, a break designed to eliminate the masses of players being rested that we’re seeing in the NRL. It would be interesting to see if an NRL pre-finals bye would have the same effect. I think rugby league’s impact nature and the extra games the elite players have during State of Origin would see those who were able to take two weeks off. Two weeks would be too long for AFL players.

The cat has been sleeping alongside my legs at night of late.
Presumably part of a conspiracy on her part to create friction with my daughter who would like the cat to sleep with her.
Anyway, some nights her positioning is less comfortable than others.
