My head feels crowded at times.

My head feels crowded at times.

Spent the evening with a congregation in Norwood at a service which marked a stage in their growth and in their relationship with their pastor.
The Congregation have demonstrated their capacity to stand as a body in full status without requiring outside aid for their ongoing work. Financially and spiritually they are on their own feet so to speak. Because of that change in status the relationship with their pastor is now one where his term of service is considered open ended.
I mentioned this is not a sign that they have arrived at a destination, but rather is a confirmation of God’s good provision and is the indication that a new step of faith is about to begin.
A wonderful time.
Where Thou Leadest Me from the Getty Music collective.
It has the look of an old hymn with an added refrain, but a cursory look around the internet is not backing that assumption up.
Nice lyrics, helpful refrain, singable tune.
The lyrics:
Where Thou leadest me
I dare not find complaint
For Thou hast never left
Nor will for all my days
Thy presence is my good
And it shall ever be
I will go where Thou leadest me
Sovereign is Thy hand
To guide me when I’m worn
Thy good and perfect will
Holds fast through every storm
What time I am afraid
My faith looks up to Thee
I will trust where Thou leadest me
On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me
O Shepherd keep me near
For I am prone to stray
The frailty of my flesh
Seeks refuge in Thy grace
This promise is my peace
My soul is safe in Thee
I will rest as Thou leadest me
On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me
On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me
Saviour light my path
Until that final day
If Thou art Lord of life
Why should I fear the grave?
Proud death has lost its sting
For all eternity
I will rise where Thou leadest me
Home with Christ where Thou leadest me
On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me
On the mountain high
Through the valley deep
I will go where Thou leadest me

Heidelberg Catechism – Lord’s Day 24
62.
Q. But why cannot our good works be our righteousness before God, or at least a part of it?
A. Because the righteousness which can stand before the judgment of God must be absolutely perfect and wholly in conformity with the divine Law. But even our best works in this life are all imperfect and defiled with sin.
63.
Q. Will our good works merit nothing, even when it is God’s purpose to reward them in this life, and in the future life as well?
A. This reward is not given because of merit, but out of grace.
64.
Q. But does not this teaching make people careless and sinful?
A. No, for it is impossible for those who are ingrafted into Christ by true faith not to bring forth the fruit of gratitude.
