Penrith are expected Grand Finalists. Parramatta are like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. But there they are.
I remain tipping Penrith to win, which is a shame. Because if Parramatta win no one will begrudge them the achievement or the fairy-tale of winning after so long, and with so little fanfare.
As for the AFL, I told my daughter Geelong would win by five or six goals – she contacted me afterward and said that was obviously a generous downplayed estimate. It wasn’t. No one expects to see Sydney blown away like that. Geelong were a very special team.

Drifting Home is an anime that recently premiered on Netflix.
It’s a tad long at two hours, and doesn’t break new ground, but was a most satisfactory movie.
The characters are young, but the theme of moving on through the experiences of life are common to all.
The twisting pattern of the bark on this tree held my attention long enough for me to decide to photograph it today.
