Season For Sneezing

The rain stopped and the skies have cleared for a day or so in Mount Gambier which heralds the onset of Spring.

Here’s the pollen that was in the air this morning.

Big Tent By Night

The large tent at OB Flat has seen Generations In Jazz come and go.

And soon the tent will go as well. This is the southern side.

Farewell Fidler & Webb

Caleb Fidler and Samuel Webb we’re pioneer retailers in Mount Gambier.

They were also both used by God in the establishment of the Methodist Church in this town.

Their retail business had left the hands of their descendants and was closed after the death of Alan Scott. Among the retailers on the redeveloped site will be an Aldi.

The Methodist Church building now houses another congregation of dedicated disciples of Jesus.

Change In The Weather

This morning’s exercise around Mount Gambier was a bit cooler.

It wasn’t breezy, so not too bad.

A sign of things to come.

Cemetery OHS

Today was the first time I saw this apparatus on which a coffin is placed in order to be lowered into a grave.

Apparently it’s safer that the ground-level apparatus they formerly used.

I suppose the big city cemeteries have been using these for years.

(I imagine they’d also hinder any folk who might be inclined to want to jump in the grave after the coffin as well.)

Not Quite

Mount Gambier’s record maximum is 44.1 degrees Celsius. (In 2014, I think I was doing a graveside commital that afternoon)

Today we’ve reached 44.0.

Close.
