Local free newspaper Lifestyle 1 featured this article its latest front page.
The reference in the first sentence to South Australia being “in the throes of a tourism boom” caught my eye.
Dictionary.com provides a couple of definitions for ‘throes’ – “a condition of violent pangs, pain, or convulsions – death throes” or
“in the throes of struggling with great effort with – a country in the throes of revolution.”
In the timeless words of Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, “You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.”
The paper actually repeats the whole section again inside with additional text.
Maybe it is intentional.
It doesn’t make tourism boom appear to be a pleasant experience.
