Fields Of Gold by Sting

Last week I posted a cover version of Fields Of Gold by Ellie and Drew Holcomb.
At today’s funeral we played the original by Sting.
I have one other cover sublime version that I’ll post sometime soon.
The song does make reference to various seasons of life; their commonalities and difference.
It also evokes a time when new seasons will come in which we will only be memories, having left the legacy of our experiences upon those we love.

Fields Of Gold by Drew and Ellie Holcomb

So, earlier today I posted a new song for children by Ellie Holcomb.
Earlier than that today I was organising a funeral at which the deceased had asked for the song Fields Of Gold by Sting to be played.
Then I saw that Ellie Holcomb and her husband Drew have just released a cover of Fields Of Gold.
That makes this sort of preparation and sort of serendipity.

There Is No Rose Of Such Virtue by Sting – Christmas Songs 2019 Day 19

There Is No Rose Of Such Virtue is an archaic text in its origin, sung here by Sting on his album If On A Winter’s Night….
The rose in question seems to be Mary, but the lyric is more of a ‘Mary Did You Know’ sort of Mary, rather than a Queen of Heaven one.

Sting was on Jimmy Fallon and recorded an outgoing voicemail message for an audience member.
The first part of the video has Sting singing classic ringtones and realising ‘Marimba’ rips off ‘Synchronicity’.
The choice of voicemail message is a classic Police track.
Not Every Breath You Take.
