124. Q. What is the third petition? A. “Your will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.” That is: grant that we and all men may renounce our own will and obey your will, which alone is good, without grumbling, so that everyone may carry out his office and calling as willingly and faithfully as the angels in heaven.
123. Q. What is the second petition? A. “Your kingdom come.” That is: so govern us by your Word and Spirit that we may more and more submit ourselves unto you. Uphold and increase your church. Destroy the works of the devil, every power that raises itself against you, and all wicked schemes thought up against your holy Word, until the full coming of thy kingdom in which you shall be all in all.
In The Fulness Of Time – by Matt Boswell and Matt Papa through Getty Music.
It sounds fine to listen to, but I can’t comprehend how it could be used as a corporate worship song.
The phrases are disjointed, the phrasing doesn’t have any regular patterning that I can discern.
The inclusion of a final verse set to the tune NICAEA serves as a singable contrast to the rest.
I’ve listened to Boswell and Papa for years; this one is for listening only.
The lyrics:
In the fullness of time God sent His Son
Immanuel, now behold incarnate Love
A virgin and her child, A Savior meek and mild
The star become the sign in the fullness of time
Prophets long they foretold the promised dawn
Hail God of God, Light of Light, begotten One
By Whom all things were made, there in a manger laid
Now born to us this night in the fullness of time
Holy, holy, holy moment
God has come to dwell with us
Glory to the Lamb, the great I Am who came
On that night divine
In the fullness of time
Hosts of angels resounded at His birth
And hosts of angels will endless tell His worth
And He shall come again, His kingdom has no end
All things made new, made right in the fullness of time
Holy, holy, holy moment
God has come to dwell with us
Glory to the Lamb, the great I Am who came
On that night divine
In the fullness of time
Holy, holy, holy moment
God has come to dwell with us
Glory to the Lamb, the great I Am
Holy, holy, holy moment
God has come to dwell with us
Glory to the Lamb, the great I Am who came
On that night divine
In the fullness of time
Born to us this night
In the fullness of time
The star became the sign
In the fullness of time
Holy, holy, holy
In a manger lowly
Christ the Son now veiled in flesh
In our humanity
Kingdoms bow before Him
Heav’n and earth adore Him
God here in person
Hail His majesty
122. Q. What is the first petition? A. “Hallowed be your name.” That is: help us first of all to know you rightly, and to hallow, glorify, and praise you in all your works through which there shine your almighty power, wisdom, goodness, righteousness, mercy, and truth. And so order our whole life in thought, word, and deed that your name may never be blasphemed on our account, but may always be honored and praised.
