The Wingfeather Saga Short Film / Series Trailer

The Wingfeather Saga is the collective title of a four book fantasy series aimed at younger readers written by Andrew Peterson (better known as a singing/songwriter).
Nearly two years ago a Kickstarter campaign aimed at funding a short animated trailer (which would serve to arouse interest in an animated series based on the books) raised an astounding $260,000 of a proposed $110,000 goal.
This enabled a trailer to grow into a fifteen minute short film, featuring more characters than had initially been hoped for.
So, not the short film is available for viewing.
Here it is.
“For twelve-year-old Janner Igiby, life in Glipwood is anything but adventurous. His only escape is the stories he reads at Books and Crannies. Janner’s dream of adventure becomes a perilous reality when his sister, Leeli, stumbles into a Fang of Dang and his little brother, Kalmar, finds a mysterious map that may lead to the powerful Jewels of Anniera.”

Tumbling Sky – Psalms for Weary Souls: Kickstarter Project by Matt Searles

I’ve posted about Matt Searles previous albums of songs based on Psalms here and here.
Matt has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a third album, Tumbling Sky.
The album will seek to mine the Psalms and produce ‘songs for miserable Christians’ – ‘weary souls’, that will help listeners avail themselves of the pathway to a loving God that the Psalms provide to those in trial.
The project is in UK pounds, so backing is more expensive than usual, but based on the earlier projects it’s worth it.
Here’s the Kickstarter page link.

Slugs and Bugs / Sing the Bible (Vol. 2) Kickstarter Project Now Open

11698782_10152843526860683_5882708175372038761_oI was happy to see that Slugs And Bugs have begun a Kickstarter campaign to fund a second volume of Sing The Bible scripture based songs.
Volume 1 was a real hoot, continuing the inventive fun and musical excellence of earlier releases, but focussing on making selections from the Bible memorable.
Volume 2 promises more of the same with some differences in musical style.
I expect the total will be raised, but here’s your chance to get in and support a great project.
All rewards were sent out in a timely fashion, as promised, last time. They may not be out here in Australia by Christmas, but they’ll make great listening in 2016.
All the details about the reward levels are here.

The Vespers’ Kickstarter Campaign For Their Third Album ‘Sisters And Brothers’

The Vespers are a two brother, two sister group featuring bright americana acoustic roots folk/pop music.
Having released two albums, they’ve just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of a third entitled, appropriately enough, ‘Sisters And Brothers’ during 2014.
Check out the details at their Kickstarter page.
And you can listen to (and purchase) their previous two albums at their bandcamp page.

Pacific Gold’s New Album Kickstarter

Pacific Gold are a group who used to go by the name of Wayfarer or Wayfarer Seattle.
The new name is because there were a few other groups who shared their old name.
Their sound is something like ‘indy rock/beach boys’, so they’re pretty unique among Christian worship music.
Anyway, they’re currently running a Kickstarter project to fund a new album of ‘repurposed hymns’.
With two weeks to go they’re well on the way to reaching their funding goal.
For US$10 you can get a download of the new album, with an immediate download of a four-track EP.
Here’s the intro video from their Kickstarter page.

Here’s their previous EP release, The River.

Cardiphonia’s Album Of Canticles Kickstarter

Cardiphonia is “a fellowship of liturgical songwriters that crowd source worship music for the joy and benefit of the Church.”
Since 2010 they have produced six themed compilations featuring more than 130 songs with contributions from 50+ artists. Album themes I’ve featured here before have included the Hallel Psalms, Pentecost, Liturgical Elements, and more. They’ve given away more than 10,000 albums through bandcamp and noisetrade.
Cardiphonia’s seventh project will be songs based on the Canticles, the non-Psalm songs included in various books of the Bible.
Anticipated for inclusion are:
The Song of Moses, Exodus 15:1-18
The Song of Moses, Deuteronomy 32:1-43
The First Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 12:1-6
The Prayer of Isaiah, Isaiah 26:9-20
The Song of Hezekiah, Isaiah 38:10-20
The Second Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 55:6-11
The Third Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 60:1-19
The Psalm of Jonah, Jonah 2:2-9
The Psalm of Habakkuk, 3:2-19
The Song of Mary, Luke 1:46-55
The Song of Zachariah, Luke 1:68-79
The Song of Simeon, Luke 2:29-32
The Song of Moses (and the Song of the Lamb), Revelation 15:3-4

This time around Bruce Benedict and Cardiphonia are conducting a modest Kickstarter campaign to cover production costs, support the artists and produce a study guide on the Canticles. They’re seeking $3500.00
At this point physical rewards are only shipping in the USA, but there is a $10 pledge that will receive a download of the completed album and a pdf of the chord charts.
Head over to Kickstarter and see if this is a project you would like to patronise.
After I signed up Bruce Benedict left a message and asked me to commend this project down-under.
In this video he tells you about it himself.
