Paradox is a track from Ellie Holcomb’s album Canyon.

And the Where the misfits , they fit in
Where death brings life again
Where the lonely won’t be alone
Where the orphans have a home
Where I don’t have to be
Anything but what you made me
Where repentance is glorious
And our scars tell the stories of
A current of love that’s surrounding , your love is surrounding me

Walking in a valley , looking up
And You have never felt so close
Canyons all around me , stars above
Meet me in the depths below
Where the lost is found
Where the broken is crowned ,
Where the souls , they rise up from the ground
You got me in the valley looking up

James Taylor’s Carolina In My Mind, sung by Kate Rusby on her album Hand Me Down.
We’re not going anywhere, but a great vocalist can take lyrics like these and transport you with a sense of emotion that brings your own desires and memories to life.
All in our minds.

Almost Home is new from Matt Papa and Matt Boswell.
I’ve liked the songs that these two have produced, both individually and since they’ve been working together.
To my hearing Almost Home expresses an aspect of Christian endurance and expectation by sort of intoning what that hope is and the ground on which the hope is held.
I think it would be be a helpful addition to other songs that would reference the reason for our hope more directly.

The lyrics
1
Don’t drop a single anchor
We’re almost home
Through every toil and danger
We’re almost home
How many pilgrim saints have before us gone?
No stopping now
We’re almost home
2
That promised land is callin’
We’re almost home
And not a tear shall fall then
We’re almost home
Make ready now your souls for that kingdom come
No turning back
We’re almost home
Refrain
Almost home
We’re almost home
So press on toward that blessed shore
O praise the Lord
We’re almost home
3
This journey ours together
We’re almost home
Unto that great forever
We’re almost home
What song anew we’ll sing ‘round that happy throne
Come faint of heart
We’re almost home
Refrain
4
This life is just a vapor
We’re almost home
That sun is settin’ yonder
We’re almost home
Take courage, for this darkness shall break to dawn
O lift your eyes
We’re almost home
Refrain
Repeat refrain.

Westminster Larger Catechism – Lord’s Day 29

Q & A 111
Q Which is the third commandment?
A The third commandment is, “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain”.

Q & A 112
Q What is required in the third commandment?
A The third commandment requires, That the name of God, his titles, attributes, ordinances, the Word, sacraments, prayer, oaths, vows, lots, His works, and: Whatsoever else there is whereby He makes Himself known, be holily and reverently used in thought, meditation, word, and writing; by an holy profession, and answerable conversation, to the glory of God, and the good of ourselves, and others.

Q & A 113
Q What are the sins forbidden in the third commandment?
A The sins forbidden in the third commandment are, the not using of God’s name as is required; and the abuse of it in an ignorant, vain, irreverent, profane, superstitious, or wicked mentioning, or otherwise using his titles, attributes, ordinances, or works, by blasphemy, perjury; all sinful cursings, oaths, vows, and lots; violating of our oaths and vows, if lawful; and fulfilling them, if of things unlawful; murmuring and quarreling at, curious prying into, and misapplying of God’s decrees and providences; misinterpreting, misapplying, or any way perverting the Word, or any part of it, to profane jests, curious or unprofitable questions, vain janglings, or the maintaining of false doctrines; abusing it, the creatures, or anything contained under the name of God, to charms, or sinful lusts and practices; the maligning, scorning, reviling, or anywise opposing of God’s truth, grace, and ways; making profession of religion in hypocrisy, or for sinister ends; being ashamed of it, or a shame to it, by unconformable, unwise, unfruitful, and offensive walking, or backsliding from it.

Q & A 114
Q What reasons are annexed to the third commandment?
A The reasons annexed to the third commandment, in these words, “the Lord your God”, and “for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain”, are, because He is the Lord and our God, therefore His name is not to be profaned, or any way abused by us; especially because He will be so far from acquitting and sparing the transgressors of this commandment, as that He will not suffer them to escape His righteous judgment, albeit many such escape the censures and punishments of men.
