The new year break slowed us down, but today we have a resting place for Robert.

A day that reminds us how some hurts are never far away even if we haven’t felt them for a little while. Thanks to all for prayer, support, and so many kindnesses.

Let Your Light From The Lighthouse Shine On Me or Let Your Light Shine On Me from the soundtrack of the Coen Brother’s remake of The Ladykillers.
The movie is probably the lightest end of their output.
The soundtrack is a standout.

Here’s the song.

This is a little bit more from the end.

As we remember and calculate things Margaret and I announced our engagement forty years ago today.
We got married the following year in July.
Longish engagements aren’t a great idea, but we wanted everyone to have enough time to come around to the idea.

Here’s a song that says it pretty perfectly.
In You Came, as recorded by The Petersens, with paterfamilias Jon on lead vocal.
The subject of the song is about Jesus.

But I think it sums up the person I’m married to.

Sandra McCracken sings, The Love Of Christ Is Rich And Free a set of words composed by William Gadsby to a tune of her composition.

The lyrics:
1.
The love of Christ is rich and free
Fixed on His own eternally
Nor earth nor hell can it remove
Long as He lives His own He’ll love
2.
His loving heart engaged to be
Their everlasting surety
‘Twas love that took their cause in hand
And love maintains it to the end
Refrain.
Love cannot from its post withdraw
Nor death nor hell nor sin nor law
Can turn the surety’s heart away
He’ll love His own to endless day
4.
Love has redeemed His sheep with blood
And love will bring them safe to God
Love calls them all from death to life
And love will finish all their strife
Refrain.
Love cannot from its post withdraw
Nor death nor hell nor sin nor law
Can turn the surety’s heart away
He’ll love His own to endless day
5.
At death beyond the grave He’ll love
In endless bliss His own shall prove
The blazing glory of that love
Which never could from them remove
Which never could from them remove
