Coal Miner’s Daughter is among the best musical biography movies.
The vocals in the movie were performed by the actors, Sissy Spacek’s performances worthy of the Academy Award.

The rendition of Amazing Grace from a funeral scene in the movie is both authentic and moving.
Apparently one of the stars insisted that it was most properly sung with someone calling each line to those gathered who respond in song, which is the traditional fashion.

Note how the lyrics draw together elements of different verses, which in this case seems all the more authentic rather than a device to truncate the song for dramatic effect.

I can’t think of a better 10,000th published post.
