Cardiphonia is “a fellowship of liturgical songwriters that crowd source worship music for the joy and benefit of the Church.”
Since 2010 they have produced six themed compilations featuring more than 130 songs with contributions from 50+ artists. Album themes I’ve featured here before have included the Hallel Psalms, Pentecost, Liturgical Elements, and more. They’ve given away more than 10,000 albums through bandcamp and noisetrade.
Cardiphonia’s seventh project will be songs based on the Canticles, the non-Psalm songs included in various books of the Bible.
Anticipated for inclusion are:
The Song of Moses, Exodus 15:1-18
The Song of Moses, Deuteronomy 32:1-43
The First Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 12:1-6
The Prayer of Isaiah, Isaiah 26:9-20
The Song of Hezekiah, Isaiah 38:10-20
The Second Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 55:6-11
The Third Song of Isaiah, Isaiah 60:1-19
The Psalm of Jonah, Jonah 2:2-9
The Psalm of Habakkuk, 3:2-19
The Song of Mary, Luke 1:46-55
The Song of Zachariah, Luke 1:68-79
The Song of Simeon, Luke 2:29-32
The Song of Moses (and the Song of the Lamb), Revelation 15:3-4

This time around Bruce Benedict and Cardiphonia are conducting a modest Kickstarter campaign to cover production costs, support the artists and produce a study guide on the Canticles. They’re seeking $3500.00
At this point physical rewards are only shipping in the USA, but there is a $10 pledge that will receive a download of the completed album and a pdf of the chord charts.
Head over to Kickstarter and see if this is a project you would like to patronise.
After I signed up Bruce Benedict left a message and asked me to commend this project down-under.
In this video he tells you about it himself.
