Forget Lent, this is a seasonal observance that we should all whole-heartedly embrace.
Australian Pork have declared March 18-25, 2012 National Bacon Week, stating:
The week aims to educate on differentiating bacon made of Australian pork from those made of imported pork, and encourage bacon lovers to explore the wide variety of meal opportunities that premium Australian bacon can provide beyond the weekend breakfast.
From their press release:
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE BACON!
The sizzling smell of success …
Homer Simpson may have been the first to come up with Bacon Day but Australian Pork Limited (APL) has gone one better, surpassing Homer’s wildest dreams with Bacon Week, a (delicious) initiative to highlight the pink square PorkMark – the only guaranteed way you can choose 100 per cent pure home grown Australian bacon.
