Lay Me Down – Loretta Lynn & Willie Nelson

A sublime duet by two masters, Lay Me Down demonstrates the amazing vocal talent and skill of Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson (both in their 80s!).
Their styles are very different, but their mastery of their voices makes the duet work.
Some may think the subject matter of the song is somber, but if you listen you can hear joy and expectation.

When We All Get To Heaven – Sunday Songs

Another old-time hymn that featured on Willie and Bobbie Nelson’s album Farther Along.
Eliza E Hewitt’s lyrics and Emily D Wilson’s tune are well matched and speak to an eternal hope that awaits after earthly pilgrimage.
Willie and Bobby provide a restrained, yet joyous rendition.

The lyrics:
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
sing His mercy and His grace;
in the mansions bright and blessed,
He’ll prepare for us a place.
When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
we’ll sing and shout the victory.
While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
clouds will overspread the sky;
but when traveling days are over,
not a shadow, not a sigh.
Let us then be true and faithful,
trusting, serving every day;
just one glimpse of Him in glory
will the toils of life repay.
Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
soon the pearly gates will open;
we shall tread the streets of gold.

Revive Us Again / Thine The Glory – Sunday Songs

Currently I’m enjoying Willie and Bobby Nelson’s album Farther Along.
I don’t remember the last time I sang this hymn.

The lyrics.
We praise Thee, O God!
For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus Who died,
And is now gone above.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.
We praise Thee, O God!
For Thy Spirit of light,
Who hath shown us our Savior,
And scattered our night.
All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain,
Who hath borne all our sins,
And hath cleansed every stain.
4 All glory and praise
To the God of all grace,
Who hast brought us, and sought us,
And guided our ways.
Revive us again;
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above.

Have a listen. The recorded version does not use all the verses.
