The Good Old Days by John Paul White from The Hurting Kind.
The Hurting Kind is the title track from John Paul White’s just-released album.
I’m looking forward to John Paul White’s soon to be released album The Hurting Kind.
The Long Way Home is the first single and promises a continuation of themes of yearning, but maybe a little playfulness is creeping in.
It was a bit surreal to get notifications on the same day from both Joy Williams and John Paul White, the former members of duo The Civil Wars, that they each have new songs out.
Williams has released Canary. (and another track, The Problem With Wanting)
White’s song is My Dreams Have All Come True.
John Paul White and the Secret Sisters perform a cover of the Beach Boy’s In My Room.
Following my last post, here’s two more tracks from John Paul White’s album Beulah.
and, by way of contrast, the sparse acoustic Black Leaf.
John Paul White was one half of dissolved duo The Civil Wars.
He’s just released a solo album called Beulah.
It’s a very accomplished guitar and vocal driven work that traverses a range of rock/folk/country/americana/acoustic/electric styles while still sounding recognisable to Civil Wars fans. There’s sadness, happiness and maybe some wisdom in these lyrics.
Here’s a track called What’s So.
