All People That On Earth Do Dwell – Sunday Songs repeat

All People That On Earth Do Dwell is one of the tracks on EMU Music’s new album of traditional hymns Praise Without Ceasing.
Since it’s Reformation Day this song, based on Psalm 100, seems as appropriate to feature as any.
I featured a setting of this song in Sunday Songs back in 2012.
EMU’s version features a refrain. Oh well.
It also features what many will recognise as ‘The Doxology’ (which traditionally is sung to the same tune as All People) as a final verse.

I Will Sing The Wondrous Story – Sunday Songs repeat

I Will Sing The Wondrous Story features on EMU Music’s new album of traditional hymns Praise Without Ceasing.
I’m featuring these, even though I’ve had most of the hymns that are part of the album on Sunday Songs before.
In the case of I Will Sing The Wondrous Story it was back in November 2011.
EMU’s version is not too slow. Let’s call it ‘thoughtful’ or ‘reflective’. The tune HYFRYDOL has been simplified a bit, but is still quite recognisable and if you know it you’ll be able to adjust quickly enough. (And there’s no added chorus. yay)
I think it’s meant to be celebratory and joyful, but there you go.

Praise Without Ceasing, New Album From EMU Music

My CD subscription copy of EMU Music’s new album Praise Without Ceasing arrived today.

It’s a selection of hymns, with their classic tunes receiving arrangements from the EMU musicians.

Newly composed choruses are pretty much absent.

It’s nice to see these historic and substantial articulations of Christian faith being affirmed for contemporary use.

Father – Sunday Songs

Father is one of the songs on EMU Music’s EP No Love Is Higher.

The lyrics:
1
When I call you my Father
I’m reminded I’m your child
When I put a wall between us
You’re waiting on the other side
Calling out that you love me
And you want to hear my cries
You’re the patient Father listening
To His child all the time
2
When I call you my Father
I’m reminded I’m your child
When I question if you love me
I recall how your Son died
Jesus died for your children
To bring dry bones to life
I’m adopted to your family
My Father God and brother Christ
Refrain.
(‘Cause) You’re my Father and you care
You love me dearly, you’re always with me
In the darkness of a storm
I will trust in you alone
Cause you’re my Father, my perfect Father
3
When I call you my Father
I’m reminded I’m your child
When I’m losing earthly treasures
I hold dear the promised life
Resurrected and made new
No more darkness, just light
You will welcome all your children
Home forever by your side
Refrain.
(‘Cause) You’re my Father and you care
You love me dearly, you’re always with me
In the darkness of a storm
I will trust in you alone
Cause you’re my Father, my perfect Father
(Repeat)
Cause you’re my Father, my perfect Father
Cause you’re my Father, my perfect Father

Where Can I Look – Sunday Songs

Where Can I Look? is a song from EMU Music released as EMU Youth on their No Love Is Higher album.
The song incorporates some expressions from the Psalms.
This is a lyric video, but I’ve included the lyrics below.

The lyrics:
1.
Where can I look for my help?
Where can I go for my strength?
Where can I find, where can I find perfect rest?
2.
Where can I look for my peace?
Where can I go for my joy?
Where can I find, where can I find endless life?
Refrain 1.
I will lift my eyes to the heavens
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of creation holds me close
3.
Who is the one I can trust?
Who will protect all my ways?
Who never rests, who watches over my life?
Refrain 2.
I will lift my eyes to the heavens
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of creation holds me close
For my Saviour watches over
And covers me with grace
My shelter and my portion, always
Bridge.
My help, my strength, my joy, my peace
My hope, my life, my liberty
All wisdom, pow’r, all truth, and love
Are found forever in your son
(Repeat bridge)
Refrain 2.

Your Word – Sunday Songs

Your Word, a song about God’s Word, from EMU Music.

The lyrics:
1.
Your word is good, it’s ever faithful
Worth more than gold, the heart’s delight
Your word gives life to all who hear and obey
Your word endures forever
2.
Your word is true, it never changes
It formed the earth; sustains it still
Your word defends; providing refuge and strength
Your word endures forever
Chorus.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet
Your word is a light unto my path
For your word is my hope, it’s my joy and my song
Your word endures forever
3.
Your word transforms, it lifts the humble
Rebukes the proud, protects the poor
Your word discerns the mind and spirit of all
Your word endures forever
Your word endures forever
Chorus.
Bridge.
Your word is more than just letters on pages; it’s life and it’s love and it’s freedom for us
Your word is more than just wisdom of ages; its treasures are endless, it’s always enough
Your word is more than just stories of old; it’s the truth and the way and the story of love
Your word is more than just breath into dust; it’s your Son, as a man, come to dwell here with us
Chorus.

Hold On – Sunday Songs

Hold On by Nicky Chiswell features on EMU Music’s album Worthy.
All the characteristics of Chiswell’s work: sound poetic lyrics and a strong melody.

The lyrics:
Verse 1
We have this treasure in jars of clay
To show all power is God’s
We are afflicted in every way
But we will never give up
Struck down…but not destroyed
Hold on for His glory
Chorus 1
Let’s take up our cross
Let’s take up His word
And hold out the Light of life
to this world
Light up the dark
Make Jesus known
He’s always with us
Hold on
Verse 2
We believe and so we speak out
But it’s not about us
We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord
He has shone in our hearts
Struck down…but not destroyed
Hold on for His glory
Bridge
And though our bodies are wasting away
Our inner selves are renewed everyday
And though our bodies are wasting away
Our inner selves are renewed everyday
Struck down…but not destroyed
Hold on for His glory
Verse 2
Let’s take up our cross
Let’s take up His word
Let’s hold out the Light of life
to this world
Light up the dark
Make Jesus known
He’s always with us….

Let’s take up our cross
Let’s take up His word
And hold out the Light of life
to this world
Light up the dark
Make Jesus known
He’s always with us….
Hold on
