We finished our carols and readings service tonight with Angels We Have Heard On High. I just heard Marina Prior sing the same arrangement of Angels that she sings every year at the Melbourne Carols By Candlelight. It’s a pretty cool arrangement. Here’s Fernando Ortega’s version. A good finish for today and tomorrow’s coming.

In The Bleak Midwinter has some of the finest poetry and music of all Christmas carols. There may be better examples of theology, more memorable phrases and melodic hooks, but Rosetti’s words and Holst’s tune CRANHAM are superb from beginning to end. Shawn Colvin does it complete justice with this rendition.
