The penultimate round of AFL. Remarkably to me, due to the way the AFL conducts its season both Geelong and Sydney have played one game each since August 20 and 21 respectively. That seems to be a huge advantage.
Along with hosting their games to teams that will have to travel, and accordingly having much greater crowd support, each of them are clear favourites in their games.
In the NRL Paramatta would be even more clearly favourite for their game, except they don’t like winning finals. Souths are buoyed by last week’s victory, but also burdened by the emotional physical cost expended to achieve it.
