Watching the movie musical The Music Man introduces viewers to the apparently authentic Iowan expression ‘Great Honk!’
It reminds me of the phrase ‘Hokey Sailors’, which I associate with the central Darling Downs in Queensland.
Famously The Music Man‘s creator Meredith Wilson was supposed to have earned more money from the Beatle’s cover of the song Till There Was You than he did from the Broadway and Theatrical releases of the whole show.
