So, here we are, a little late, and, in one case, in a once in a life-time place.
For the AFL it is a little ironic perhaps that two Victorian teams are playing a grand final in Brisbane, the Victorian teams having experienced unprecedented levels of disruption throughout the year. For sentimental reasons I select Geelong.
Months ago it seemed the NRL were premature and ill-judged in their determination to resume their season. And yet games were played and disruptions were largely caused by the more predictable lack of discipline of the players rather than the unpredictable spread of the virus. Penrith have proved themselves at every test so far, and only one remains. For reasons that are not so sentimental I select Melbourne.
