The IMDb summary for Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom is “A maverick dancer risks his career by performing an unusual routine and sets out to succeed with a new partner.”
Thanks to Christine we think it should be changed to “Footloose meets Kath and Kim.”
And there should be some sort of warning that Paul Mercurio and Tara Morice, though both wonderful in their parts, are meant to be teenagers, not the nearly 30 somethings they both obviously appeared to be. It would make some other aspects of the movie less confusing.
