In The Bleak Midwinter has some of the finest poetry and music of all Christmas carols.
There may be better examples of theology, more memorable phrases and melodic hooks, but Rosetti’s words and Holst’s tune CRANHAM are superb from beginning to end.
Shawn Colvin does it complete justice with this rendition.
