Could two grand-finals be more different?
In the AFL Hawthorn demonstrated another expression of their dominance, comfortably winning a third straight title.
In the NRL North Queensland score on a play that began with fifteen seconds of regular time remaining; Jonathan Thurston fails to win with a conversion attempt, but lands a drop-goal after opposite half Ben Hunt knocks on the kick off in extra time.
As the AFL game concluded thoughts mainly turned toward wondering how any team will match the standard of this team next year.
In the final moments of regular time in the NRL game I was sitting in awe of coach Wayne Bennett’s skill in securing a title with a team that lacked any semblance of cohesion at the end of last year.
But then North Queensland rewrote the script.
