Consecutive reading: Ezekiel 24:1-27 – Jerusalem is compared to a boiling pot whose corrosion (rust) cannot be cleansed (verses 1-14); Ezekiel’s wife, the “delight” of his eyes (verses 16), dies, and he must forgo customary mourning, ordinary practices being inadequate to represent the depth of his sorrow (verses 15,16).
