One year ago today Elijah was born and Margaret and I became grandparents.
(Another pretty direct result of our coming here ten years ago.)
There were a few worrying times through the year, but now he’s thriving, just as averse to sleep and full of cheek as his mum and dad ever were.
The experience of a grandchild goes beyond watching a baby grow into a toddling personality in his own right.
We’ve watched our four other children become doting aunties and uncles.
We’ve watched our daughter and son-in-law mature into loving parents.
There’s a lot going on.
No wonder I need the odd nap every now and again.
For those of you who are separated by distance, here’s a short video of a few early steps.
