One of my favourite Easter activities is Zac Hick’s recording of John Bell’s In A Byre Near Bethlehem (The Word Of Life).
I opened Mt Gambier’s Sunrise Easter service by playing it.
Have a listen.
I love sitting by the Valley Lake in the early morning half-light with a group of other Christians hearing the final verse and chorus:
In a garden, just at dawn
Near the grave of human violence
The most precious Word of Life
Cleared His throat and ended silence
For the good of us all
And He’s here when we call Him
Bringing health, love, and laughter
To life now and ever after
For the good of us all
I’m so glad He is risen, because two days after Easter Sunday my body is still collecting on the deal I made with it to get me through an extended weekend of services with a mild case of flu.
He is risen, but I’m finding it hard to get out of bed.
