hallelCardiphonia have compiled a sixth ‘flash mob’ album, “Hallel Psalms”.
Giving a collection of musician friends one month to compose and record their works, the theme this time is the Hallel Psalms.

This collection of songs meditates on Psalms 113-118 often called the “Egyptian Hallel.” They were traditionally sung during passover, were sung by the disciples at the last supper, and make a fantastic set of texts to guide worship and devotion during Holy Week (March 25-30).

Here’s Cardiphonia’s introduction to the project.
In addition, they’ve included this introductory essay on the Hallel Psalms by Scott Redd.
The 16 track album features original lyric interpretations of the psalms as well as classic hymn texts, all set to new tunes.
A variety of musical styles are represented.
As such, it also serves as an introduction to a number of composers and musicians who are producing music for singing in Christian worship, many of whom have produced albums of their own materials.
These are the words that Jesus sang the night he was betrayed, and, as such, should be of interest to Christians.
Hopefully too, they would impact on a generation for whom the injunction to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs has been interpreted as lots and lots of spiritual songs, a hymn or two and no psalms at all.
The album is available on a ‘name-your-price’ basis at Bandcamp.
