Ed Welch’s What Do You Think Of Me? Why do I Care? has proved to be an engaging read, even if I’m not its target audience (teens and young adults).
When the Israelites were forging the golden calf, no doubt they thought that God was limited and finite – just like a person. They didn’t think he could be at two places at the same time, because what man was able to do such things? If he was on the mountain with Moses, how could he also be in the valley? He couldn’t. Therefore, they reasoned, they should be afraid. Little did they realise that the God who was on the mountain was Lord over the cosmos.
