The Presbyterian Church Assembly has officially appointed Richard Wilson as their church planter – he tells Mikey Lynch about his hopes for burgeoning Victoria

Richard Wilson, the good news and Victoria, posted with vodpod

This is a very encouraging step. I trust the partnership will be fruitful for the kingdom and that others will be travelling similar paths soon. Melbourne does need many more reformed/evangelical church plants, particularly in the growth corridors west and north (and south and east for that matter).

I do take the whole ‘Melbourne will be Australia’s biggest city’ thing with a grain of salt, though. If it ever happens it will only be for a short season until Brisbane/Greater South East Queensland overtakes them.

It is exciting to finally have someone to lead our church-planting effort here.

I couldn’t help noting the tell-tale rising inflections from both participants in that video, though – very Mooreish!

You mean the Assembly didn’t check the colour of his socks before appointing him?

I have recollection that Moore college guys have this red sock thing going, but I don’t bump into too many of them out here in the sticks where we have more sheep than people.
