Mike Rowe On Why You Shouldn’t Follow Your Dream

This is a five minute graduation speech by Mike Rowe pointing out the unfortunate truth that passion and ability may not have anything to do with each other and that just because you’re passionate about something doesn’t mean you won’t suck at it, and that happiness on the job has very little to do with the work itself.
People generally aren’t told this sort of stuff at school, so just as they’re graduating will have to do.
And his final piece of advice about what to do with your passion is pure gold.

List Of More-Or-Less Redundant Jobs

Mental Floss lists what it calls ten odd jobs of yesteryear.
Included are the Saggar Maker’s Bottom Knocker and the Slubber Doffer.
But the real gem is the link at the bottom of the post to this list of Obscure Old English Census Occupations.
There are scores and scores listed there.
A treasure trove of illustrations.

What All The Cool Pastors Will Have Next – A Hamster Wheel Standing Desk

Stationary standing desks are so 2013.
(I do wonder if some pastors may feel the notion of a workstation that gives the impression of moving forward while never going anywhere may make leave them internally conflicted.)
No, I have no intention of getting one when I go back to work.

It looks like satire, but seems to be serious.
