Last weekend of test cricket. Who would have ever thought that rain in England would prove controversial. Or that such a thing as the ‘Moral Ashes’ would exist and that England would be claiming an unassailable lead in that previously non-existent contest.

The footy competitions both dawdle along towards finals. In the NRL Easts, Manly, and Souths are all outside the eight and not all of them can make it. If Easts don’t win tonight it seems their chance is gone. Oh well.
Even though it looks close, perhaps the AFL eight are settled. Geelong look vulnerable, but their destiny is in their hands. If they don’t make it they weren’t good enough this year. None of the teams behind them seem any stronger, it’s more a matter of who plays who over the next few weeks.
