My wife an I are currently housebound, sick, but probably not COVID, waiting for test results.
This just seems to be a chest-cold or some type of flu.
I’m taking the weekend off, because I really have no choice.
Most of the people I know who have had COVID haven’t reported feeling this bad.
Anyway, we watched a movie this afternoon that featured the song When You Say Nothing At All.
I did a post on the song a couple of years ago.
Another fact I discovered today is that it was co-written by Paul Overstreet, who has quite a country music career and has also been active in writing Praise and Worship music. (God Is Good, All The Time, believe it or not)
I think When You Say Nothing At All is a perfect song in that the melody and lyrics do all the heavy lifting, the purer and less adorned the rendition the more strongly the sentiment is conveyed. It makes sense with this song that the more you try to add, the less you end up communicating.
All day long, I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near you drown out the crowd
Try as they may, they can never define
What’s being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes saying you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
And it is such a blessing to share a love like this.
Here’s The Petersens, with Katie on lead vocal.
