It may appear the enforced separations and periods of isolation of the last two years would be an introvert’s dream.
But it has not proven so.
Whereas intentional withdrawal provides refreshment and energisation, isolation fuels anxiety and drains emotional and physical energy.
Being alone bears its positive fruit when it is a choice.
And when that choice includes the desire to return to those we love to share that fruit anew.
From Andrew Peterson:
At odds with my great love of solitude is my fear of isolation.
Solitude is a choice. Isolation is inflicted.

Isolation is finding yourself alone when you don’t want to be.Andrew Peterson, The God Of The Garden, B&H Publishing, 2021, pg. 76.
