After a Summer of underwhelming cricket (further enervated by a Big Bash tournament that went on forever) NRL and AFL return.
Of the two competitions NRL will be the more desperate for play to begin after an off-season of player scandals, and musical coaches (six out of sixteen clubs have new/different coaches, compared to no AFL clubs changing coaches).
In the NRL playing lists are somewhat stable with notable retirements being a larger impact than inter-club transfers. In a relatively even competition what may seem minor improvements or declines could have major impacts on ladder position. That’s why coaches are suddenly the desirable commodity.
So, here we go again.
