This list is not more things to be done by people who already feel overwhelmed by the demands of circumstance.
It really points out what usually stops being done when stress builds up. But when these stop burnout follows.
So, these should be part of normal life, and when life becomes abnormal it’s all the more necessary for them to remain.
It’s a good list of questions to ask someone who’s in a tough situation. Not proscriptively, but winsomely.
It’s also a good way to pray for your pastor.
Here are five:
Work hard at maintaining your personal spiritual disciplines of reading, meditation and prayer. All is lost if these go out of the window.
Don’t make any big decisions when feeling stressed.
Don’t engage in any church discipline and/or respond to negative emails until you have slept on it.
Repent of your God complex.
Take regular breaks.
