The message we’ve been waiting for.
An email from Jeroen:
Jozua is doing very well and because of that Jozua’s discharge date is set for 14 February – yes, only in about a week’s time (and yes, 2014)! That will mean he will be out of hospital within 10 weeks from the day that he was flown in! That means that he leaves hospital within 8 weeks from the time that no-one in hospital was sure if Jozua would survive the accident and his high brain pressures and the impacts of the diffuse axonal injury! Not only that, God has also put His hand on Jozua to such an extend that he is well enough to walk out of the hospital, talk, reason, ready to go back to school (gradually)! That also means we are at least 3 months earlier back home than what I expected a month ago.
We are obviously very thankful that Jozua will be coming home and that I can join him (I will miss the weather here). It will be good to be together as a family again as well after this time. It will be nice for Diana, Anne, David & Naomi not to have to take the 5 hour one way trip from Mount Gambier to Adelaide over the weekends. Jozua is really looking forward going back to school again. I expect that, although ‘normality’ will be coming back, we will often be reminded that being well is a blessing indeed.
Over these last weeks we have been taught again that the best thing to do is to trust in God, so that your only comfort either in life or in death (very, very thankful that it is with Jozua life and not death!) is in Jesus Christ, who has conquered sin and the wages of sin (death) and that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. We think of a girl we know here who is undergoing her third chemo cancer treatment, and pray that God will continue to provide her too with that comfort, and that he will bless her treatment so that she will be well again, amazing us all with His work through medical treatments, skills and miraculous healing.
The expectation is that Jozua will go back to school part-time initially, with some rehab along side if required and some home-schooling. Exciting time ahead.
Greetings from a very happy dad, Jeroen
