A faith that looks consistently to Jesus will demonstrate works of loving fellowship, yet the presence of these works is not the source of our assurance. Rather the presence of these works encourages us to keep looking to Jesus, who alone is our source of assurance.

The prayer of adoration and confession will recall all of the blessings of salvation, particularly as they manifest themselves in our lives and fellowship. We’ll give sorrow for when we focus on ourselves and not Jesus, asking for strength to look to Him in every circumstance.

In God’s Word we begin the book Lamentations with the first of Jeremiah’s five laments.
Father, We Come To You Now (Revive Us) expresses our trust in the Holy Spirit’s ministry of God’s Word in our lives.
Reading Hebrews 6: 9-12 we consider another part of the writer to the Hebrews expression of pastoral concern about their lack of commitment to going on with their faith. Though he has warned them of the worst possible outcome, his counsel turns to encouragement as points out their lives demonstrate evidence of a faith that looks to Jesus, and that the outcome of that faith will demonstrate itself in committed discipleship.
