Joni Eareckson Tada has had a significant profile as a Christian and a quadriplegic for decades.
Speaking at John MacArthur’s Strange Fire conference Eareckson Tada spoke about her experience of God’s healing power in the present age.
Tim Challies provides his notes. They’re worth reading in their entirety.

Here’s an excerpt.

  1. It seems so inadequate to describe her comments as Spiritually mature … but that’s what they are of course. I received correspondence from a spouse of someone deeply impacted by Altzheimers (both devout Christians) well-advanced in years, no likelihood of “HEALING” there. Both are sustained by God’s “exceedingly great and precious promises.”

The curious thing about this post is MacArthur’s terming the conference the “strange fire” conference. Now I’m stirring a bit. I realise he’s identifying eccentric sometimes heretical teachings emanating from pentecostal circles which are akin to the levitical phenomenon. Is that the subjective-genitive use of the term, then?

I should go to bed in preparation for the Lord’s Day.
