A few words about the 2013 Holiday Muster (mgpc’s school holiday program).
Tonight we finished up with a family get together and gave everyone a little taste of the fun we’ve been having.
A great team supported us with catering.
We had some great helpers get our publicity posters around town.
Apart from Christine everyone else who helped in leading is aged under twenty. Kids who’ve attended Holiday Muster all their primary school years look forward to helping out when they get old enough. We had about a dozen and it’s a joy watching them grow up into engaging and thoughtful young adults.
But there’s something else I need to write.
Pastor’s kids get press ganged into a lot, but this week: Christine demonstrated her skill in leading a bunch of games and craft; for the first time Peter organised each day’s program from the curriculum materials, as well as preparing the multimedia and publicity poster, learning a lot in the process; Robert pitched in as required, setting up, cleaning up, keeping an eye on people (and was the first person one of our more boisterous young fellows was looking for); Rachel helped, took photographs, made the souvenir video, helped do actions for singing and had a bunch of young girls following her around. This year Kathryn was busy raising the next generation of Holiday Muster attendees. (and yeah, Elijah made it along for a few sessions, so he’s well on the way.)
They do all this casually putting up with grumpy dad growling at them the way he never growls at anyone else, cause ultimately they know they’re not doing it to make me happy.
