Songs for Liturgy is a welcome and unique entry in the modern hymns genre.
In contrast to full hymns/songs, these twenty-seven pieces are discrete elements for use in specific aspects of worship.
Cardiphonia have collected these tracks from a diverse group of musicians who lead singing in a variety of churches.
It is available as a free download, which includes a free PDF of leadsheets.
During the month of November you can also make a donation toward US storm relief.

“Songs for Liturgy” is a collection of ‘short songs’ for worship. These are classic service music selections (kyrie, gloria patri, sanctus, doxology), examples of biblical canticles, scripture songs, and other compositions written by local congregations to serve the gospel narrative of corporate worship. While hymns and contemporary worship songs are usually self-contained ideas these songs seek to serve the gospel narrative inherent in a complete worship service of preaching, prayer, and communion. These songs are decoration for the liturgy of our services – they are exclamation points, bursts of praise and confession, times of transition, and sung amen’s.

Have a listen.
