After a very smooth (unbelievably smooth) twenty four hours of travel (walked out of the hotel at five am EST and landed in Harare pretty much at five am EST) Jeroen and I were met by a delegation of folk from Highfields Church. I call it a delegation because I think more wanted to come, but they didn’t want to swamp us.
Someone took some photos, I’ll get one sometime. I’ll look like a zombie, for sure.
Among the twelve or so people were Ralios and Lydia, who are delighted we’re finally able to see their homeland. It was good to shake the hand of Isaac, pastor of Highfields and many others whose names we will learn in days to come. They’re wearing name tags. My children, whose names I still get mixed up, know how valuable that is to me.
We’re spending tonight in a very comfortable hotel, with free wi-fi, which is why I’m typing this tonight. No, I’m not loopy enough to be down in the business center at 11.00 pm.
Tomorrow we’ll rest, get set up, and get driven around Harare.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to sleep.
