Those of you who like free music, the sounds of Mumford & Sons and Bon Iver might want to have a listen to The River, a newly released EP of repurposed hymns from Wayfarer, Seattle.
Melodic, acoustic and electric with strong vocals and harmonies the source lyrics are treated with respect and given new tunes which are contemporary and timeless.
Tracks include Shall We Gather At The River, Alas And Did My Saviour Bleed?, and the very popular Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me (utilising, I believe, the tune popularised by Bifrost Arts).
The five track EP is free. You can purchase a sixth bonus track, When I Approach My God (evokes something of a Beach Boys vibe), at iTunes, or receive it if you purchase a number of packages at the bandcamp page.
But the EP itself is free.
