From 20/4.
AFL, 6/9: It was almost as if Fremantle had some inside knowledge about St. Kilda’s strengths and weaknesses, I’d have thought the Saints would have been trying to make a point, but didn’t know it was actually Ross Lyon’s point, not theirs; Carlton, we hardly knew ye…, Essendon, is now the new Carlton, now if Collingwood become the new Essendon on Wednesday the circle of life is complete; brainfade on the Port tip: there is a pretty fair gulf between the best eight and worst eight sides in the comp, with a few inbetween, this result underlines that. Glad I didn’t tip Gold Coast.

NRL: New Zealand were just the way we like them: Valiant in defeat. That half-back looks like he’s got a bit, though. Be interesting to see him develop some teamwork with Benji. Nice of the ARL to give the Queensland backline and halves a solid run before state of origin. NSW City-Country played their trial in a park, and the players obliged with that standard of football. Nobody really stood out there, but Carney and Pierce look to be the halves.

Next week’s tips due before first bounce/kickoff Wednesday.
