In a poignant post by R.C. Sproul junior about life without the presence of his recently deceased wife Denise he makes this comment,

Prayers for strength, wisdom and perseverance, are of course not just welcomed but coveted. But do not pray as those who are without hope – that’s just worrying on your knees. Instead pray with confidence to our loving Father. I know how powerfully He is not just able, not just willing, but how eager He is to bless, because I’ve seen what He has done for my wife.

Last night at mgpc we prayed through the fruit of the Holy Spirit for our First Sunday Prayer Meeting. For the fruit ‘patience’ we confessed those areas in our lives where we have not been patient. All of those situations for which we’ve prayed ‘Your will be done’, but have continued to fret and ever-so-privately fume that God has not done that for which we asked.
We confessed those situations where our prayers had not been true prayer, but merely worry on our knees.
It was, to my mind, a very precious time.
