Of The Father’s Love Begotten is an English language translation of an old Latin text.
The accompanying tune complements the origin of the translation invoking a plainsong/chant sensitivity.
Ordinary Time present the song in a simple rendition which presents these qualities well on their album Until He Comes.

Of the Father’s love begotten, ere the world began to be,
He is Alpha and Omega, He the source, the ending He,
Of the things that are, that have been,

O that birth forever blessèd, when the virgin, full of grace,

And the Babe, the world’s Redeemer,
