do you think it looks as cool as the iPhone 3, Gary?
47 year old, male, white, father of five, husband of 27 years, Presbyterian pastors are the last people on the face of the earth that you should be asking for opinions about what is ‘cool’.
If I say ‘no’, I instantly show my lack of appreciation for, and interaction with, popular culture and design.
If I say ‘yes’, the poor device is instantly definitively proven ‘uncool’.
So…
The aluminum bands and squared edges makes for a more solid and functional, and less decorative look.
Though thinner, it is heavier and this seems to make it feel more solid to handle.
So I do prefer it on those aesthetic counts.
In addition these aging eyes need all the help they can get, and the resolution on the screen makes for easier reading; the quad band capacity of the device means that I am now able to access Optus 3G locally (They don’t transmit at 2100gsm or whatever, so the old phone was slow on data); and the thing is so much quicker than my former 3G unit; and the camera is a significant improvement.
So I’m liking those aspects a whole lot.
