Okay, I have conservative Christian background.
My idea of ‘men’s retreat’ was something like the Late Show’s Wild Man sketch.
(Look it up on YouTube if you don’t own the DVD)
Banging drums, dancing around a fire, unrepressing memories, group hugs, feeling the freedom to sing show tunes and watch chick flicks, that sort of thing.
I do understand personal and peer pastoral care differently now, and will spend the next four days on retreat with seven other Presbyterian pastors.
I believe this sort of thing should be written into our terms of call.
What happens on a retreat?
I’ll try to give you some idea in the midst of whatever else gets posted here this week.
I’ll be interested to hear your justification why it should be written into terms of call. I have never been on a men’s retreat (and only one ministers retreat) but I am open to be challenged on the value of such things, even though they offer no personal attraction.
